Church in Hard Places Workshop
April 2, 2018
The Church is a display of God’s glory in the midst of a hurting community. Who will go and build healthy churches among the world’s poorest communities? We define hard places as “economically and socially disadvantaged communities”. Churches in hard places often share common struggles. Our goal is to equip church leaders, train indigenous believers, and develop resources to build healthy churches in hard places.
For this workshop, we are bringing in our friends from Scotland. What might be surprising to some is how similar their context is with our American inner cities. The schemes are essentially the Scottish version of our projects or section 8 neighborhoods. They, too, deal with high levels of unemployment, poverty, and drug addiction. 20shemes is a ministry seeking to plant churches among Scotland's poorest.
- Mez McConnell: Pastor of Niddrie Community Church, Edinburgh, author of Church in Hard Places. Founder of 20schemes.
- Sharon Dickens: Director of womens ministry at 20schemes.
- Doug Logan: Author of On the Block. Co-director of Church in Hard Places.

Vision trips are great way to see what ministry at ONE HOPE looks like on a daily basis. Consider coming on a five-day vision trip to Baltimore where you will experience life with Garden Church Members, ONE HOPE Interns, visit future church planting sites and pray with us for the work the Lord is doing.
